Types of Dental Veneers

Are you looking for a way to have a brighter, whiter smile that you can be proud of? Veneers are an option that provides you with a natural-looking smile that is whiter, often stain-resistant, and may even improve functionality in the mouth. There are several types of veneers to choose from.

Porcelain Veneers

One of the most common types of dental veneers Happy Valley, porcelain veneers are the strongest and most durable option for most people. Their biocompatibility helps to ensure that they don’t issue the surrounding gum tissue, and the materials blend in well with the natural tooth color. Porcelain is also stain-resistant and has a smooth, tooth-like texture. On the downside, porcelain can be expensive and the procedure is often longer than that of other options.

Composite Veneers

Created using a mixture of organic and inorganic resin materials, composite veneers are strong and match well to the wearer’s natural teeth. They are often more affordable than porcelain veneers but may not last as long since they are not as strong. While composite veneers are less invasive and are easy to repair if they chip, they are also more prone to stains and need to be replaced more often than porcelain options.

Temporary Veneers

One type of veneer that you may not have heard of is temporary veneers, called so because they are removable. Removable veneers, which are also sometimes called snap-on veneers and work by being placed in hot water. Once hot enough, you mold the soft material to your teeth. While an acceptable solution when you have an occasional need for a whiter smile, it’s important to note that temporary veneers are not recommended long-term or for daily use. They also do not look as natural as permanent veneers.

If you think that veneers may be right for you, talk to your dentist. He or she can help you determine what the best plan is to meet your dental needs.
