Top Plugins for WordPress

Frequently people asked me what plugins i use on my WordPress websites.

So i gather here on SilentBits the top best WordPress plugins.

Ultimate Tag Warrior - Best Tag system for WordPress. You can use categories and tag system on one website which is very cool.

Exec-PHP - Execute PHP code in posts or static pages. When this plugin is on you can add php code to static pages or even posts.

Google Sitemaps - This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog.

PXS Mail Form - Creates a mail form with multipart verification, various messages and an auto redirect on successful send. It is much more easy to contact with website author.

SpotMilk - SpotMilk is the admin theme for WordPress 2.0. It makes wp-admin panel much nicer.

Super Archive - Implements a dynamic archive, the best archives system i know.

SRG Clean Archives - Super clean archive. Very simple and useful.

WP lightbox 2 - Overlay images on the current page for WordPress. You can turn it on and all images are now working with it.

Gravatars - Add gravatar support to WP. Administrative interface to control default gravatar options.

Get Recent Comments - Display the most recent comments or trackbacks with your own formatting in the sidebar or where you want.

WP Paginate - Create pagination for pages. It is the best plugin for that makes navigation easy with many static pages.

    Hey hows it going

Im looking to install some extra plugins for my blog, but thought id ask for advice first,…

I want a photo gallery for my site… The images which i upload to photobucket.com and feed the url of the image into the gallery plugin,

i want most recent image and random image to be displayed as thumbnails in the sidebar,,,

also, as an extra page i want photos, which would contain albums with details of the album… then also those albums would contain specific photos…

i dont want to upload all my fotos to my site, instead just to feed the url into it…

    what do you recomend?

    please email me back :)

Well i am not a expert in photos for WordPress.
For sidebar images you can use flickr and check out this plugin: http://www.fahlstad.se/2006/08.....-released/ for example.
Sorry but i don’t use photo galleries.

Nice list, some of them i use too, but the social bookmarks with icons seems out of age…

CoXis, can you give me some light on this subject?

I don’t see too much the point of using Ultimate Tag Warrior, I like the idea of using categories as tags much more, mainly because it’s already on the WP install. Of course, if you use categories also, well, you have to install some type of tagging plugin.

So, what are the main reasons for using UTW and not categories?

  13. 13 Peter (233 comments) Sep 8th, 2006 at 12:41 pm

No, you got me wrong. The best way is to use categories and tagging system. It is all for Google and other search engines and it works :)

  19. 19 Marieke Hensel (1 comments) Oct 10th, 2006 at 4:48 pm

Thanks for the list, I am going to implement some on my site.

Do add the networking plugin as well. Where you can easily link to all your profiles on the different networking websites, like LinkedIn, OpenBC, Ecademy, and many more. Real fun to know if you can look someone up on any of the platforms you are on.

Thanks for your comprehensive list of top plugins and including SpotMilk! We just recently we came across a relatively new contact form plugin: cforms which going forward will be a standard in our client projects, it’s a very universal and powerful contact form plugin!

For all you guys out there supporting video content, you can now monetize it free with the NoPrimeTime wordpress plugin. You can also crosspromote your sites if you lack advertisers.

I found a great plugin I use on my site: TreeMagic Cypress by AmbientWebs. http://ambientwebs.com/portfol.....c-cypress/ Basically it allows you to double-click any word on your site and get a drop-down list. From the list, you can select the definition for the word, search it on Google, or any other query that you can possibly think of.

    Hi,

I just write a new plugin WP Widget Cache, which can cache the output of your blog widgets. I think it will significantly reduce your server usage, especially when Google is crawling your site.

Will you please have a try, and add it to this list. Thanks very much.

    Here’s the plugin url:
