ShortStat vs Mint

The stats on the page are very useful, they show you how many people visits your site, where from they come to your page and stuff like that.

I just think about this Mint stats.

I build my pages using WordPress blog system. On my WordPress pages i use this great plugin which shows me good stats for my sites. The plugin is free and works very good as tab in WordPress wp-admin.

You can download it from here: http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/wp-shortstat.

They are many stats systems (also for WordPress) but shortstat is fast, gather data good and show to me most important information.

Probably you heared about Mint stats. The look and work also great, i think…. i don’t really use it.

But is it worth to pay 30$ for Mint if we can easy install ShortStat for free. Just look here, this are my screens from shortstat today: 1.PNG and 2.PNG. You can compare them to Mint online demo and see yourself what functions have Mint that ShorStat doesn’t have: Mint Online Demo.

Looking at this i come to conclusion that ShortStat really is enought for me. But look yourself and make a decision.

For WordPress system i also use Counterize but this stats make my sql base very big.

Link to them is: http://andersdrengen.dk/projects/counterize/

Bicherele wrote comment about this SlimStat system. It is free, based on ShortStat, but much more complex. I think this is the best solution for your sites. It is not a plugin for WordPress so you can use it on all sites. Minus is that it grabs many MB from your sql base. There is a solution about that, delete the old data…..

I see that you have not upgraded to 2.0.1 yet. Wp-Shortstat seems to be broken by WP 2.0.1. Now i’m left stranded with no decent traffic analyzer to rely upon… any other recommendations besides Mint?

You don’t even understand what Mint is.

It’s more than a simple stats tracking system. Mint itself is merely a platform on which people write modules/plugins called Pepper that can track downloads/page hits/countires/etc…

Shortstat was written by the same author of Mint (Shaun Inman).

Mint is definitely worth the $30. You can view all your hits on a Google Map; you can see trends in the page views/hits/refers of your website; and the Mint interface is the most elegant interface of its kind.

You can’t compare Mint to other stat apps because the others have to be modded/updated to get new features, while all you need to do w/ Mint is drag a Pepper in.
