Frankly, I don’t know, but it still amazes me that I am able to come up with 2 new domains/blogs getting PR7 in less than 6 months.
What PR7 gives you, many many good things 
SilentBits is PR5 for now, which is also very good, i think. Anyway PR7 is very nice thing to have, a lot of good traffic which makes good money.
This is the most impotent part:
* Get links from old and highly trusted domains.
* Get site-wide links from a huge site with 150,000+ pages (a large forum perhaps).
* Get a few deep links from relevant articles or content.
* No massive and low-level directory submissions.
* Avoid link exchanges, esp. from new domains.The first 3 bullet points is all I can say I did and the last 2 are just mere opinions (something I didn’t do during the exercise). Actually, these are not SEO secrets at all.
