The End of Images Near Ads

Today i found this news on ProBlogger about putting images near ads from Google Adsense:

In short - they are saying that their policy is that you cannot place images near ads in any way that suggests a relationship between the image or the ad - even if you put a line between the image and the ad (something that I’d previously been told was fine - so they’ve changed their tune on this).

This is an example ad they are talking about:

FruitImages.png

I don’t really know how it will be in future, but they can start ban users that have images near ads. This is their final state about this.

I talk to them many times about that images near ads, they say to me it is ok but many people get answer that this was not correct. Anyway finally they have decided to end this and publish official state.

I think it’s fair enough both for publisher and advertiser.

The hit to adsense revenue will hurt. The images did wonders for increasing click through rates.

    .. but fair is fair.

Adding images next to my adsense was actually on my list of things to complete. Thanks for the warning!
